For the third week in a row, we will take a look at the best, worst, and most interesting thing about the Arkansas Razorbacks football game. Thankfully since the Hogs pulled out a win against UAB, this won’t be all Lows. But it was a rough day for the Hogs and as Max stated, we did see some red flags for what could be deeper issues for the team.
High
Ground game is good. The Hogs gained 266 yards on the ground and 4 touchdowns at 7 yards per clip. In a day when things just didn’t seem to be going our way, we were able to rely on the trusty ground game to squeak out a win against a pesky UAB team.
Ja’Quinden Jackson’s 147 yards and 1 touchdown at a 9.8 yards per carry clip are absurd. It makes you wonder why the game was even close.
Low
The Hogs never really showed up. It’s weird to look at the stats after the game where Arkansas won in basically every statistical category, and try to articulate how it felt Saturday as a fan.
It felt like the Hogs could never stop UAB. But we held them to 119 yards rushing and out-gained them by 73 yards of total offense. Their quick-short passes just kept accumulating.
It also felt like Taylen Green played awful. But he did have 257 yards of total offense and 2 touchdowns and also had at least 5 passes dropped by his wide receivers that would have resulted in 1st downs.
We were just flat. We didn’t seem like we wanted to be there. But we did find a way to win the game.
Buffalo
The new State of Arkansas Flag on the field during pre-game is awesome. The University of Arkansas decided to add a new tradition this year with a giant state flag at the base of the “A” where the team runs out.
My family was asked to participate as guinea pigs for this first attempt. And it was so cool. Being down on the field already offers a wild perspective of the size and speed of the athletes and the temperature and sound on the field, but getting to be mid-field while the team ran out was wild. I smiled like a small child the whole time.

This is so dope.
